Kastner
Robert Kastner, a native of Rochester, New York, received his Bachelor of Music Performance Degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He has held the position of 2nd trombone with the Naples Philharmonic since 2001.
Robert joined the FGCU faculty in 2022 as adjunct professor of low brass. In 2004, Robert was the winner of the ITA’s Van Haney competition. Robert has performed as a soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic and at the 2004 International Trombone Festival. This past September, he was guest soloist with the FGCU Wind Orchestra. Robert has frequently performed and recorded on tenor and bass trombone with the orchestras of Philadelphia, Buffalo, Rochester, Naples, Sarasota, the Sarasota Opera, Tampa, Illinois, and the New World Symphony. He performed in Carnegie Hall with the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as for Pope Francis.
Robert enjoys playing chess, visiting new restaurants, and spending time with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.
